That GOOD GOOD Around the Web

Back in August, one of my all-time favorite websites, Refinery29, had a lovely series entitled Month Of Working Girls which featured entrepreneurial/professional women everyday for a month. Each feature included a short interview which gave each of the featured women the opportunity to discuss the skills she possesses that have allowed her to be successful, the best professional advice she has ever received, her favorite things to wear to work, etc. I found myself captivated by the words of wisdom each individual imparted in her interview; it is so inspiring to see women sowing seeds of success and reaping bountiful harvests. I applaud Refinery29 on this series and I hope they do another Month Of Working Girls very soon! Click here to view the series in its entirety. Below excerpts from a few of my favorite features.

Jamala Johns, Senior Art Director for Code and Theory & Creator of le coil
I think collaboration is key, and when I can guide someone (or a bunch of someones!) towards a great solution, it makes me happy.

Randy Stulberg, Independent Director, Producer, and Cinematographer
“I find the adventure of the unknown to be the most thrilling part of my job. I love the challenge of storytelling. I feel so blessed when I am able to capture intimate or funny moments, or just life unfolding over a long period of time.”

Rebecca Zhou, Experience and Product Strategist for Gin Lane
“I try to approach everything with curiosity by never being afraid to ask questions and constantly pushing myself to explore and learn about things that intrigue me.”

Adette Contreras, Erica Taylor, and Liz Castelli, Partners/Owners of Tinsel & Twine
“Besides the practice of building and following timelines (seriously), our most significant practice is the ability to function on little to no sleep. Our philosophy is that we can catch up on sleep when we’re making our own hours!”

Written 4 years ago by writer Kofi Genfi, Caged Black Woman is “a story of a fearless woman who is heavily flawed and who is trying to escape into a world where there are no woes- but can this place for her ever exist?” Click here to watch the riveting short film.

I am loving Solange in Madewell's Fall 2012 Campaign. She looks stunning!
