'I Forgot' Friday: Ms. Fat Booty by Mos Def

I forgot to post a throwback yesterday! So here is the video I would have shared with ya’ll had I not been slacking.

Usually I am the first person to complain about how most rappers only talk about big butts and such but I’m going to give Mos Def a pass because this man is such a good rapper. Only he can turn a song about seeing a girl with a fat booty into a work of art. Mos has such a way with words and he is such a storyteller and if you really listen to the words of the song the story that he is telling is actually quite entertaining. So please watch, enjoy & reminisce.

  1. I love visiting your blog. I always find some cool stuff when I stop by. Ms. Fat Booty is one of my favorite Mos Def songs. I like how he made a song about a woman's ass but it was tongue and cheek not explicit. He really flexed his story telling ablility on this one. Great pick!

  2. I was thinking the same thing Moet with Medusa lol! You do a really good job with your posts Dee, like you actually put some thought into what you put up here and I love it.

Ms. Fat Booty is a really amazing song, the first few times I heard it years ago I didn't really listen to the words but when I actually listened to what Mos Def was saying like you said, I found that the story was definitely present! Nice choice :)
